ARK: Survival Evolved is introducing Valguero, a free, new map. It adds a huge landmass to explore, a new breed of dinosaur, and tons of other stuff.
ARK: Survival Evolved is a survival game that heavily features dinosaurs. The team at Studio Wildcard has been pumping out content since the game’s 2017 release and the newest content drop will be the Valguero map. Give the map trailer a watch below.
As with most things in ARK, Valguero is huge. The map is 63 kilometers of fresh new lands for you to explore. It has eight different biomes that each come with their own climates and geographical dangers. You’ll see lush jungles, vast snowfields, blazing lava flows, and humid savannahs, among many other things.
The map also features a new boss arena, which pits you against a Megaphiticus, a Manticore, and a Dragon at the same time. The encounter is incredibly dangerous and not something you should approach lightly. That said, if you want to truly test your skills, the team is implementing an end-game boss encounter that will be even more of a challenge.
Valguero is also home to a brand new breed of dinosaur, the Deinonychus. These raptor-like creatures use speed and agility to hunt down their prey. The feathered beasts hunt in a pack and will prove a challenge for any animal.
Finally, Valguero lets you go under the surface into a gigantic network of caves. These unexplored wonders of nature give you a whole new type of environment to explore. Both above and below the surface, you’ll find Valguero survivor ruins to explore and plunder. It’s quite the package, especially for free.
ARK: Survival Evolved is available now on Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One. The Valguero map is coming to PC, PS4, and Xbox One on June 18.
