Mortal Kombat fans will finally be able to see Joel McHale and Jennifer Carpenter in the latest MK animated movie.
Alongside the upcoming live-action film reboot, Warner Brothers Animation is putting together a new animated movie based on the Mortal Kombat franchise. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge is currently slated to debut in the first half of 2020 and boasts two voices you’re sure to recognize. Joel McHale (Community, The Soup) and Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter) voice Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade respectively.
Scorpion’s Revenge is directed by Ethan Spaulding. Spaulding has previously worked on several animated movies based on comics, along with quite a few Avatar episodes. He seems like a perfect fit for the project.
Rounding out the rest of the voice cast are Jordan Rodrigues as Lui Kang; Patrick Seitz as Scorpion and Hanzo Hasashi; Steve Blum as Sub-Zero; Artt Butler as Shang Tsung; Darin De Paul as Quan Chi; Robin Atkin Downes as Kano; David B. Mitchell as Raiden; Ike Amadi as Jax Briggs; Kevin Michael Richardson as Goro; Grey Griffin as Kitana and Satoshi Hasashi; and Fred Tatasciore as Demon Torturer.
Interestingly, Kevin Michael Richardson actually voiced Goro in the 1995 live-action film. So, his inclusion is pretty neat. And, of course, Patrick Seitz has always done Scorpion’s voice in the games, while Steve Blum has been doing Sub-Zero since the series’ latest reboot.
Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge doesn’t have a firm release date just yet. However, that news should be coming very soon. And with the live-action Mortal Kombat reboot on the horizon, now is an excellent time to be a fan of NetherRealm’s fan-favorite fighter.
