Pikmin 3 was a fantastic game on the Wii U and a port to the Nintendo Switch could help give the game the spotlight it deserves.
The Nintendo Switch has had a plethora of great games release for the hybrid console. Some of those have been excellent new titles, but plenty of those games have been ported Wii U games. It looks like Pikmin 3 might be joining that list sometime soon.
According to Venture Beat, Nintendo has some games in the pipeline that are due to release sometime soon. One of those games being the previously reported 3D Super Mario Collection, while another one will be Pikmin 3 Deluxe.
Nintendo has had some fantastic success in the last three years by porting over Wii U titles to the console. The top-selling game on the console by a wide margin is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, a port of Mario Kart 8 that released in 2014. Even New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe has sold over 6 and a half million copies.
Nintendo has not put out an official announcement of the game but I would think Pikmin 3 joining the Deluxe brand of games is a pretty safe bet. Pikmin 3 is a fantastic game and I think the best of the series. A port of the game would be a sure hit and continue to make the Wii U even more irrelevant than it already is. I mean, almost most of the great titles for the system have been ported over or have received new entries. After this, all we need now are Twilight Princess HD and Wind Waker HD!
Additionally, after today’s stealth announcement of Paper Mario: The Origami King releasing in just over 2 months, I think the port of Pikmin 3 could possibly release some time in the coming months. That is just a gut feeling though.
