The Last of Us Part II Focused State of Play Stream to Occur on Wednesday

The Last of Us Part II is taking center stage later this week in Sony’s newest State of Play episode.

Naughty Dog and Sony have been showing off new looks at The Last of Us Part II for a few weeks now but in just a couple of days, it seems we’ll be getting an even more extensive look at the highly-anticipated sequel.

PlayStation announced this afternoon that a new State of Play stream will be transpiring later this week on Wednesday, May 27, and will focus entirely on The Last of Us Part II. The live stream is said to be over twenty minutes in length and according to the PlayStation Blog will contain “an extended sequence showing off about eight minutes of never-before-seen gameplay.” This episode of State of Play will kick off at 4:00pm EST/1:00pm PST.

In recent weeks, Naughty Dog has been releasing short new videos that have highlighted certain aspects of The Last of Us Part II such as the narrative and gameplay mechanics. However, the gameplay footage in these videos hasn’t been new and has instead been recycled from previous showings. This Wednesday’s State of Play will contain the first new gameplay footage of The Last of Us Part II that we have had in quite some time.

This is also the second single game-focused State of Play stream that PlayStation has held in the past month. Just a couple of weeks back, Sony and Sucker Punch gave us a deeper look at the PS4-exclusive Ghost of Tsushima prior to its launch in July. That stream focused on the combat, open-world exploration, and customization options that will be available in the game. It stands to reason that this week’s edition of State of Play will likely be very similar in format.

The Last of Us Part II is set to release in just a few short weeks on June 19, exclusively on PS4. Additionally, Sony also recently unveiled a new special edition PS4 Pro console that will be arriving alongside the game at launch.
