Braindance looks like Cyberpunk’s post-death version of Bernard’s Watch.
CD Projekt Red’s Night City Wire event took place today and revealed a brand new trailer, as well as a Cyberpunk 2077 anime. Among the reveals was also a gameplay video showing off specifically a look at how an investigative system works.
The gameplay starts off by showing the first-person perspective of a thug who robs a shop, After robbing the store the screen glitches out and we’re shown the first-person perspective of V sat in a chair with some type of contraption on their head. The contraption of course was the Braindance which is an implant that records everything. V describes that they could feel everything the thug felt and thought.
After composing themself, V then jumps into editing mode which allows V to take control of the “BD Rollers Sensory array”, basically allowing the player to freely move around the scene of what just happened. The analysis mode allows players to pause, rewind, fast-forward, and inspect whatever was going on, Judy even states that the BD Roller picks up audio that’s not even a focus to the scene. This audio mode looks like it can apply more context to the scene.
It’s also shown that some places record heat signatures too, and V is able to see the results of a person, whether they’re a civilian, whether they’re dead or alive, etc. This is where things get kinda cool, up until this point we didn’t know what the thug looked like as the Braindance recording seems to only show everything but the persons face, that’s when V has to use a camera in the shop to capture the face by enhancing the CCTV feed.
Nifty stuff, and I’m not sure I did it any justice in explaining it. Thankfully the video shows off the BrainDance better. You can watch it here at the 1-hour 14-minute mark. I would have embedded this video, but for some reason, Twitch ain’t playin’ ball today.
Cyberpunk 2077 is due to be arriving later this year in November when it should arrive on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. it’s also arriving on Xbox Series X and the PS5.
