Studio Trigger and Neftlix are bringing about Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a new 10-episode anime series that is set to arrive a few years down the road.
Alongside revealing a new trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 today, CD Projekt Red announced a surprising new partnership that will see the game’s world coming to a new medium.
In a collaboration between CD Projekt, Studio Trigger, and Netflix, a new anime entitled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was revealed to be in the works. Edgerunners, which comes from the same studio that worked on Kill la Kill and Little Witch Academia, is set to release in 2022 and will release exclusively on Netflix’s platform.
As of now, not a lot is known about Cyberpunk: Edgerunners other than it will tell its own standalone story within the renowned universe. The show will last for 10 episodes and is said to follow “a street kid trying to survive in a technology and body modification-obsessed city of the future.” After this character loses everything that he has early on in the series, he will then become an edgerunner, which is essentially a mercenary in the world of Cyberpunk.

All in all, this is probably the most surprising reveal that came about during today’s Night City Wire live stream. While we obviously expected to see more of Cyberpunk 2077 itself, the fact that we’re now getting an anime series set in this world is incredibly exciting. The fact that it’s being done by Studio Trigger only amplifies that anticipation, too.
You can check out the initial trailer for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners down below to learn more about the series from the team at Studio Trigger. Hopefully, it won’t be too long before we hear and see more about this show.
