Halo 3: ODST’s popular Firefight mode is finally making its way into The Master Chief Collection in the near future.
Despite launching six years ago, 343 Industries is still actively working on Halo: The Master Chief Collection and is planning to add one of the most-requested features from fans to the larger remastered collection later this year.
In a recent announcement that appeared on the official Twitter account and YouTube channel, 343 revealed that it is planning to bring Firefight, which was a popular game mode in Halo 3: ODST, to The Master Chief Collection later this summer. While MCC has been an ever-expanding package over the years that has seen the addition of games like ODST and Halo: Reach, additional game modes outside of multiplayer and campaigns have yet to make their way to the title. 343 Industries hasn’t said when Firefight will be added to the game specifically, but broadly outlined that it will be dropping this summer.

If you somehow aren’t familiar with Firefight, essentially, it’s Halo’s iteration of the popular Horde mode. Firefight first appeared in ODST when it released back in 2009 and was a popular game mode that many fans quite enjoyed.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that 343 specified that Firefight will be landing on both Xbox One and PC iterations of The Master Chief Collection. This is a bit interesting since the PC releases of Halo 3 and Halo 3: ODST still haven’t been divulged. This new information though seems to indicate that both might be planned to arrive this summer, which is definitely exciting.
