Devolver’s annualized press conference is set to take place next weekend. Let’s hope it will be as insane as always.
In a year without E3, Devolver Digital is still very much going to be part of this summer’s ongoing gaming festivities and has today announced when it will be holding its own presentation.
Shared via social media, Devolver revealed that its own “Devolver Direct” event will be taking place next week on Saturday, July 11 at 12pm PST/3pm EST. No further details of what to expect from the showing were really given, but as the name and accompanying video that was shared suggest, it seems as though the indie publisher might be looking to directly (pun intended) rip off Nintendo’s presentation format this time around.

In an accompanying press release, Devolver provided some more information on what it has in store come next Saturday. “This year’s showcase continues the tradition of overpromises with new game reveals, gameplay reveals, release date announcements, and special guests from the industry to help usher in these important marketing bullet points,” Devolver stated. “And it’s nearly all gameplay because that’s what the youths of today demand.”
As for the actual games that will be showing up, appearances from titles like Disc Room and Carrion have been confirmed. Other currently-unannounced projects are said to be making debuts as well. That’s your queue to cross your fingers for Hotline Miami 3, once again.
If this year’s presentation is anything like what we’ve seen in recent history, expect this Devolver Direct to feel more like an acid trip than an actual event focused on video games. And assuming that is the case once again, you won’t find me complaining about it.
