Far Cry 6 is rumored to be appearing at Ubisoft’s upcoming Forward event and it may star well-known actor Giancarlo Esposito.
Within recent days, Giancarlo Esposito, the actor most well-known for portraying Gustavo Fring on the hit television show Breaking Bad, revealed in a new interview that he is set to star in an upcoming new video game. Even though Esposito didn’t at the time say which game he’ll be appearing in, it looks as though we now have a pretty good idea.
In an article from GameReactor which has since been deleted for one reason or another (you can find a cache of the article right here), it was said that Esposito will be appearing in Ubisoft’s Far Cry 6. While not outright revealed just yet, rumors have appeared within recent weeks that have indicated that the sixth installment in the mainline series is set to appear in just a few days at the Ubisoft Forward event, which will occur on July 12.
Assuming that this report is indeed true, it’s not that surprising whatsoever that Esposito would find his way to work on a Far Cry game. Ubisoft’s high-profile first-person shooter series has always been known for its iconic villains that include Vaas in Far Cry 3 and Joseph Seed from Far Cry 5. Esposito’s character of Gus Fring on Breaking Bad is arguably one of the most well-regarded antagonists in television history, so the potential marriage here makes a lot of sense.
Obviously though, none of this is confirmed just yet, so take it all with a grain of salt. There’s also the question of why GameReactor deleted its article making the claim of Esposito appearing in Far Cry 6 in the first place. Perhaps because the claim was untrue? It’s hard to say, so again, don’t get too excited.
Even if Esposito himself doesn’t end up appearing in the world of Far Cry, there’s no doubt that a new game in the franchise will be coming about soon enough. Considering just how well Far Cry 5 sold, Ubisoft will surely be looking to bring the series to next-gen platforms in PS5 and Xbox Series X soon enough.
