Horizon Zero Dawn Comes to PC in August, First Gameplay Footage Unveiled

Horizon Zero Dawn is set to launch on August 7 and the first gameplay footage that we have now seen looks absolutely wonderful.

After months of silence following its initial announcement, Sony and developer Guerrilla Games have today announced when Horizon Zero Dawn will finally be coming to PC and it’s much sooner than you might expect.

Divulged via a new trailer, Horizon Zero Dawn is set to hit PC in a little over a month on August 7. It will be released via Steam as the Complete Edition of the game, meaning that you’ll get the original version of the title to go along with The Frozen Wilds DLC, a digital art book, and some additional in-game outfits and packs. Pre-purchases for Horizon Zero Dawn are also live as of today at a retail price of $49.99.

Perhaps more intriguing than the release date though is that new footage of Horizon Zero Dawn running on PC was today revealed, and holy smokes, y’all. As you might expect, the game seems to have gotten a major upgrade on its new platform compared to that of the PS4. In addition to boasting a higher, variable frame rate, the PC iteration of HZD also contains ultra-wide support, graphics customization, and greater reflections compared to what we’ve seen before.

Even as someone who thought that Horizon Zero Dawn looked pretty darn incredible running on a PS4 Pro to begin with, it really is pretty staggering to see what the game looking like on a more powerful piece of hardware. While I wasn’t planning to double-dip on this one, I might just have to when it releases next month.

As for the future of the franchise, Guerrilla Games also recently announced that it is planning to release the follow-up installment, Horizon Forbidden West, at some point in 2021, exclusively on the PS5.
