Sony has given us our first look at what PS5 games will look like in stores with the box art reveal for Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales.
With the system coming later this year, all eyes are on Sony as the PS5 is being prepped for its holiday 2020 launch. Last month, Sony finally pulled back the curtain a bit more on the system with its long-anticipated reveal event, including the design of the actual system. To coincide with the PS5’s look and the launch of the next-gen, Sony is also giving the box art of PS5 games a refresh.
Over on the PlayStation Blog, Sony officially revealed what the box art for PS5 games will look like on store shelves when the system launches later this year. The new look was demonstrated with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, the upcoming new title by Insomniac Games that will feature Miles Morales as the main protagonist as a standalone experience from 2018’s Spider-Man title.

From the images released, it seems Sony is definitely moving forward on making its black-and-white color scheme a more defining characteristic of the PS5’s branding with the new box art, with the PS5 logo in black on a white background. However, it seems that PS5 game cases will still retain their blue coloring for the case plastic like PS4 titles had.
Now that we’re entering the next-generation, it makes sense that Sony would give a refresh on what the branding looks like for the PS5 and its games. Like the logo initially revealed for the system earlier this year, for the most part Sony is sticking to their guns with a design that is pretty close to what they were using for the PS4, other than introducing the black-and-white color scheme that matches the system itself.
The PS5 is currently expected to release sometime in holiday 2020. Stay tuned for more information on DualShockers as news on the PS5 develops in the near future.
