Atlus and Sega’s Shin Megami Tensei V is back with a new trailer and is coming worldwide in 2021, exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo held on July 20 a Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase, revealing together with Sega and Atlus a new trailer for Shin Megami Tensei V. This direct was revealed unannounced earlier today, satisfying fans who’ve been waiting for one for multiple months now.
Shin Megami Tensei V New Trailer:
As you can see, this new Shin Megaten 5 trailer gives us for the first time some information on the game’s setting. Apparently god died and everything started spiraling down, with demons invading earth. The trailer also introduces what seems to be Shin Megami Tensei V‘s protagonist, and their fated meeting with some kind of supernatural being.
An official site for Shin Megami Tensei V is also live over here.
Shin Megami Tensei on Super Famicom was also recently added to the games playable on Nintendo Switch Online. Only when connecting to the Japanese version of the service though, as the game never got officially localized. This was perhaps a sign that this piece of news was coming.
Shin Megami Tensei V was first announced in January 2017, during the official reveal of the Nintendo Switch a few months before the console’s release. It’ll be the first numbered Shin Megami Tensei game since SMT IV Final (Apocalypse), first released on Nintendo 3DS in 2016.
Personally, I can be a very “no fun allowed” person when it comes to jokes on the net, as I have a very hard to please sense of humor. So besides being interested in the game itself, I’m quite happy we finally have news about SMT V. That way, all the jokes about the game not existing, being canceled and whatnot can finally stop. In any case, now, Atlus should be starting to regularly reveal character and story setting information for the game, most notably via Japanese press releases. As always, I’ll be doing my utmost to translate these, so stay tuned.
