Collectors rejoice as Joker and Hero Amiibo get dated for October 2
If you’re anything like me you’ve been anxiously awaiting the day that Nintendo announce the release date for their next set of Amiibo. Well now it’s time to breath easy as they have confirmed the dates to be October 2 in NA (EU will get them a few days early on September 25).
The tweet that confirmed the dates came with a new video that gave us close-up shots and 360 views of the new Amiibo, which are the first two characters from the first Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighter Pass.

The two Amiibo were first announced last month during the reveal of Min Min, who hails from the Nintendo Switch fighter Arms, as the first character from the second Fighter Pass. They are the protagonist from Persona 5, Joker, and the Hero from Dragon Quest XI.
These will be the first Amiibo released since January this year when we got Dark Samus (Metroid) and Richter (Castlevania) ending a nine months barren spell. The announcement of these release dates means that we have no Amiibo in our immediate sights. Should Nintendo continue to follow the release schedule of the DLC characters however, then Banjo and Kazooie will be the next characters immortalized in Amiibo form. And that is awesome.
These aren’t the only awesome toys/collectables that Nintendo revealed the release date for this week. In case you missed it yesterday Nintendo and LEGO revealed the latest in their line of collaborations, an incredible 2600 piece replica LEGO Nintendo Entertainment System, complete with retro TV and life-size controller.
With the release date now announced for these Amiibo, we know everything about Nintendo’s first party offerings between now and the end of the year (which is next to nothing). I can’t help but think it’s about time we got the announcement of a new Nintendo Direct and the reveal of the rumored 3D Super Mario Collection.
