The latest round of new titles for the Nintendo Switch Online library have been revealed and will be available September 23
The Nintendo Switch’s online service has received mixed reviews. While it lets people play their favorite games, like Animal Crossing: New Horizons or Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with friends across the world, it’s not that reliable. That’s offset somewhat by the free games that subscribers get every month, part of an ever-growing library of classic NES and SNES titles. This month’s additions to that list have just been revealed, and they’re… nothing to go bananas over.
Only one NES game is being added to the portable console this month – S.C.A.T: Special Cybernetic Attack Team, a shooter with some clear Contra influences. The SNES side of things is where we find some more exhilarating titles. Nintendo Switch Online subscribers will have access to The Peace Keepers, a side-scrolling beat-em-up and Mario’s Super Picross.

Last but certainly not least is Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest. For a rather underwhelming list, the addition of a beloved Donkey Kong Country title is much needed. This entry in the series gives players control of Diddy and Dixie Kong as they fight the big bad crock, King K. Rool to save Donkey Kong. Just like Donkey Kong Country though, this title features fantastic platforming and a soundtrack that will live rent-free in your head for the rest of your natural life.
Nintendo’s Online library for subscribers started off rather small, and with a cadre of obscure titles. However, it has made some fantastic additions, including The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Mario World, Super Metroid and more. If the new titles coming to the service interest you, you won’t have to wait much longer to play some free retro classics. They’ll be available starting September 23.
