The sequel to Zelda Breath of the Wild Sequel is coming along nicely, Eiji Aonuma said during the Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity reveal.
Nintendo just shared a new development update on the Zelda Breath of the Wild Sequel. Unfortunately we didn’t see anything new, but we might have heard something interesting.
Alongside the reveal of Zelda Musou Yakusai no Mokushiroku, or Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity if you’re not a weeb who wants to act cool, Nintendo published a short video featuring Zelda Producer Eiji Aonuma. At the beginning of the video, Producer Aonuma brought up the BotW Sequel, and how its development is going smoothly. He mentioned we’ll have to wait a bit longer for future updates.
In the video, included below, Eiji Aonuma said:
Eiji Aonuma: “Regarding the sequel, in order to make the vast world you enjoyed exploring in the original game even more impressive, the team is working hard on its development, so you’ll have to wait a bit longer before we can provide more updates”.
We didn’t have any info on that yet, but judging from Producer Aonuma’s words, it looks like the Zelda Breath of the Wild Sequel is set in the same world as the original, but in an “even more impressive” form, whatever that will entail. This definitely doesn’t mean Nintendo is gonna “recycle” the BotW map though, but at the very least seems to deny fan theories such as a dark world, a parallel world to explore instead of the usual BotW Hyrule.
The Breath of the Wild Sequel was first announced during the E3 2019 timeframe, in a Nintendo Direct. Xeno series studio Monolith Soft is currently working on a Zelda game, and it’s likely the Breath of the Wild Sequel.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity (official site) will launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch on November 20, 2020. The Zelda Breath of the Wild Sequel might come in 2021, as Nintendo reportedly has a new Switch model and several major titles in store for the year. It’s possible it won’t be launching before April 2021 though.
