Gearbox recently announced that Borderlands 3 will be getting a free next-generation upgrade as well as a second season pass including several new pieces of content, but arguably the most exciting addition that is being made will be a new skill tree for each vault hunter.
Amara’s new skill tree is called Enlightened Force. Each of Amara’s trees focuses on different elemental types with this time focusing on cryo damage. On the Borderlands website, the team describes her new Action Skill known as Phaseflare as “an orb of pure elemental energy you can push around and detonate using melee attacks.” Enemies will take damage who are near the orb but those who take the main front will receive massive damage.
Fl4k who is known for being a beastmaster having numerous different pets on their side will now have a Hyperion loader boat under their wing being able to shift it into different types depending on your build. The ION Bot is equipped with a sniper, the BUL bot with a shotgun, and the WAR bot has a missile launcher. Fl4k’s new action skill is known as Gravity Snare, an area of effect attack which lifts enemies into the air before slamming them into the ground.
The Iron Bear, Moze’s mech, and original action skill in Borderlands 3 has been put down to size with her newest action skill Iron Cub where she instead summons a smaller mech to fight beside her.
Last but not least, Zane will be able to summon the MNTIS cannon, a railgun that will shoot down targets off Zane’s shoulder. With his new skill tree “The Professional,” his build potential will allow several of his kill skills to trigger at the same time.
While the next-generation upgrades will be free for those who already own Borderlands 3 on PS4 or Xbox One, the Season Pass which these new skill trees will be a part of will be at a cost. Gearbox has yet to announce the specific price, but the first season pass sells for $49.99 so it is likely that the second will be around the same. The designer’s cut that includes the new skill trees is set to release on November 10 alongside the release of the Xbox Series X and Series S.
