Destruction AllStars Delayed Out of PS5 Launch Lineup, Will Arrive in February via PS Plus

Destruction AllStars has been pushed back from its launch alongside the PS5, but you’ll no longer have to pay $70 for the game when it does release next year.

Of all the first-party Sony titles that are set to arrive alongside the PS5 next month, Destruction AllStars from developer Lucid Games is likely the least-known of the bunch. Fortunately, while it might not be standing out as much compared to games like Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon’s Souls, the car combat action game will now have its own time to shine next year.

Over on the PlayStation Blog today, it was announced that Destrcution AllStars will no longer be releasing next month for PS5 and has instead been delayed into early 2021. The title is now set to arrive at an undetermined date in February, with more information and a new trailer being said to come next week.

While this news might be disappointing for those who wanted to play Destruction AllStars on day one for the PS5, this delay has a silver lining. Upon its release next February, Destruction AllStars will now be released as a free title for those who are subscribed to PlayStation Plus. The game is said to be free for two months as well, rather than the typical one month window in which titles like this are made available.

“We want as many people as possible to experience the mayhem on PS5, and what better way to do that than to provide the game to our PlayStation Plus members?” said director Pete Smith on the decision.

Honestly, this is probably the best course of action that Sony could have taken with Destruction AllStars. Even though nothing we have seen of the game looks outright bad by any means, the value prospect of asking consumers to spend $70 for this title always seemed a bit steep. Considering the multiplayer component of this situation which Smith also mentioned, making the game free for a set period of time via PS Plus seems like the best course of action to ensure that it finds an audience right away.

We’ll have more to share with you on Destrcution AllStars next week once the new details for the title come about.
