The 24th annual DICE Awards nominees were announced, with The Last of Us Part II and Ghost of Tsushima leading nominations.

The nominations for the 24th annual DICE Awards have been published. The Last of Us Part II, Ghost of Tsushima, and Hades lead with the most nominations. The game of the year nominees are listed below. If you’re interested, you can read all the other awards categories here.

Game of the Year:

  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons (Nintendo)
  • Final Fantasy VII Remake (Square Enix)
  • Ghost of Tsushima (Sony Interactive Entertainment)
  • Hades (Supergiant Games)
  • The Last of Us Part II (Sony Interactive Entertainment)

The Last of Us Part II leads with 11 nominations, followed by Ghost of Tsushima with 10, and Hades with 8. 57 games received nominations this year. Additionally, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Half Life: Alyx, and Ori and the Will of the Wisps tied with 5 nominations each. Personally, it was nice to see Dreams, Sackboy: A Big Adventure, and The Pathless receive nominations.

Recently, The Last of Us Part II dethroned The Witcher 3 as the most awarded game in history. Since its release last June, it’s earned 261 awards. Among the other DICE Awards categories it’s in includes best art direction, achievement in story, and best animation.

The first DICE Awards happened in 1998. Unlike a video game awards show like Geoff Keighley’s The Game Awards, the DICE Awards are voted on by members in the video game industry. Their game of the year pick last year was Untitled Goose Game. Control, Death Stranding, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order were among the winners in other categories. Additionally, Jessica Chobot and Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller have cohosted the awards show in the past. There’s no word if they’ll host this year’s show.

The 24th annual DICE Awards will premiere on April 8, 2021. Stay tuned to DualShockers when the winners are announced.
